𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐡𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐒𝐖 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 (𝐃𝐒𝐏) 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐆𝐃𝐋𝐒)

On 4 August, the Judiciary of Bhutan participated in the inauguration of the Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies (GDLS) at JSW School of Law, welcoming the programme's inaugural cohort of 15 students. This new programme has been jointly developed by the Judiciary of Bhutan, JSW Law, and the Desuung Skilling Programme (DSP) to strengthen legal support capacity within our justice system.

The Hon'ble Chief Justice of Bhutan graced the occasion as Chief Guest, joined by faculty and staff of JSW Law,  representatives of the DSP, members from the Judiciary, and the inaugural cohort of students.

The Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies is a practice-oriented programme for bachelor's degree holders pursuing careers in legal support within the judiciary. It builds a strong foundation in legal principles, court procedures, research, drafting, professional ethics, and bilingual legal communication in English and Dzongkha.

The programme prepares graduates to interpret legal materials, engage effectively with court processes, and support judicial functions with professionalism and integrity, offering a clear pathway from undergraduate study to practice-ready careers as law clerks.
The launch of the GDLS marks a key milestone in the Judiciary's collaboration with the Desuung Skilling Programme and JSW Law, advancing graduate legal education to meet the evolving needs of Bhutan's justice sector.
