The 10th Annual Judiciary Conference,
which concluded yesterday, clarified and modified about
55 points relating to the kingdom’s laws, said a spokesman
for the High Court in Thimphu.
Among others, the six day conference
discussed matters relating to His Majesty the King's
commands regarding the legal system, and Acts on land,
marriage, inheritance and motor vehicle. A series of
decisions were taken by the conference.
According to High Court Judge, Dasho
Sangay Dorji, these decisions will be submitted to the
royal government for final approval before they are
implemented.
Dasho Sangay Dorji explained that one
of the advantages of the annual conference is that it
helps clarify all misunderstandings and ensures uniformity
in the legal procedures and decisions in different districts.
It also discusses and decides on the
modifications and additions called for by the changing
situation in the country.
