Seventh Annual Conference of Thrimpons begins
The Seventh all Bhutan Annual Judicial Conference of Thrimpons and Thrimtsaps commenced in the High Court, Thimphu on June 22, 1982. The active participants of the Conference, Thrimpons and Thrimtsaps from all the Dzongkhags were present at the inaugural ceremony. His Excellency Lyonpo T. Jagar, the Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs was the Chief Guest.

The Hon’ble Home Minister, in his inaugural speech, spoke at great length about the importance of law and order, which, he said, were the integral part of the progress and development of the county. He urged all the Thrimpons and Thrimtsaps to be fully aware of the law of the land and called upon them to put in all their efforts and work with dedication while dealing with the judiciary problems being faced by the public in their respective Dzongkhags.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Justice Dasho Paljor Dorji, Thimphu High Court, said that the Hon’ble Home Minister had always been and would continue to be a source of support and encouragement to the Judiciary. He informed that as per the command of His Majesty the King a Re-organization Committee of the Judiciary, comprising of the Hon’ble Home Minister and the Thirmpons of the High Court had been formed. The Committee made several recommendations in regard to the reorganization of the Judiciary. He said that the Committee did a commendable job and it was His Majesty’s pleasure to approve of the recommendations.

While outlining the decentralization policy and the Dzongkhag self-reliance programme of the government, Dasho Dorji said the judiciary officials should come to understand that they are also part and parcel of this change. He then requested all those present to fully cooperate with the civil authorities and maintain the closest of relations with them. He also said that it is only when this is done that the policies of His Majesty the King can be carried out successfully. He expressed hope that the problems being faced by the Thrimpons and Thrimtsaps in their respective Dzongkhags could be resolved during the Conference.

The Conference, which will be in session for about a week, is being co-chaired by Justices Dasho Lhaderla and Dasho Karma Dorji is the Secretary and Dasho Wocheb Dorji Thrimpon of Samchi is the Deputy Secretary of the Conference.
